Wider plot?
Wednesday, March 02, 2005There seems to be alot going on the island right now. Apparently, Abdulraouf Al-Shayeb, the official spokesperson for "The National Committee for Martyrs & Victims of Torture" was sentenced in absentia to 2 months jail or a fine of BD300 on the 27th of Feb. His crime is entering the home of an Indonesian maid without permission. He is currently abroad campaigning for human rights in London and Geneva. Bear in mind that there is only month to go before the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Bahrain. A few days before last year's Grand Prix he was arrested for the crime that he has now been sentenced with. Everyone speculated that the real reason was because the Torture Committee was planning to hold demonstrations near the F1 track. This year round, once again, Al-Shayeb has planned demonstrations during F1 weekend. He'll be returning to Bahrain soon (I'm not sure when exactly).
Elsewhere it's being reported that at 10.30pm this evening, three individuals distributing announcements about this Friday's planned protest about unemployment have been taken to Police Headquarters in Isa Town. I don't any details about this yet but everyone's taking about it. [Update: These three were released after a few hours]

Weird timing indeed ;)
Chanad... come on..I really can't understand what's going on..and WHY NOW?
How many fronts are "they" battling at once ?
Who's pulling the strings ?
Who's calling the shots ?
Who's benefiting from all this confusion ?
Who are the bloody losers ?
Or may be it's just something silly we shouldn't look deeper into ?
