I found the old photo at the top at the shaheedbh.com forum, along with two more old photos of ashura processions in Bahrain:

The photos don't have a date or location... can any of you make a guess as to when or where they might have been taken?

These are GREAT, as well as the other blog's photos. Maybe you can con Senor Mahmood into donating a slice o' webspace for a little historical photos of Bahrain section?

Great photos! I just added the ones i found onto flickr. It would be nice to have a section of historical photos as Leila suggested.
